COVID-19 READY!!!
WE ARE COVID-19 READY!!!
We have implemented changes to our practice in order to better protect our patients and staff from Coronavirus. There are several things that will be different when you arrive for your appointment, we will explain them all in detail.
Upon arrival to our office, we will require you to wear a face mask/covering. If you do not have a face mask, we will provide one for you. When you arrive at our office, please stay in your vehicle and call our front desk confirming your arrival. We will call you into the building when we are ready to allow you inside the treatment area. We will check your temperature with an infrared forehead thermometer. If you have a temperature of 99 degrees or higher, you will have to re-schedule your appointment for 2 weeks. You will also need to see your physician and have them perform a COVID-19 test for you. Alternatively, you could have a test at a free testing facility. You will be required to bring the results to your dental appointment within 48 hours of the results. We will require you to reschedule your appointment for 3 months from your result date. Next, we will evaluate your oxygen saturation level via a pulse oximeter. If you have an oxygen saturation level below 92%, and you do not have an underlying pulmonary condition, you will be re-scheduled for 2 weeks and you will need to see your physician to investigate the cause. Once again, if your physician suspects COVID-19, you will need to be tested and the same protocol will be in effect as above. Recent literature has stated that asymptomatic carriers may have a lower oxygen saturation level. When you are inside the office, we will escort you to the clinical area as there will be no waiting in the reception area any longer. A series of questions will be asked by the dentist regarding Coronavirus, such as recent travel or exposure of yourself, a family member or friend, who you may have come into contact within the past 30 days. It will be up to the discretion of the dentist to re-schedule your appointment if he suspects any potential risk to our other patients or staff. When you are not being treated by the dentist, we will require you to keep your face mask on at all times while in the office. We have implemented a suction/vacuum device which will be in close proximity to your face during procedures. This device will suction all aerosolized saliva.blood, and all particulate moisture that eminates from your mouth during procedures. This device will also suction/vacuum water from dental drills and ultra sonic scalers that the assistant can't suction with the intra-oral suction devices. This vacuum/suction unit has 3 filters, a carbon filter, a HEPA filter and a UV-C filter. The device kills any potential viruses and bacteria that enter into it. Below, we have shared a link for your review. The other precaution which we have employed is air filtration throughout the office, non-clinical as well as clinical areas. The air filtration devices also have 3 filters, carbon, HEPA and UV-C which is effective in killing all bacteria and viruses. We are also looking into installing a filtration device into our HVAC system, which is completely isolated from the other 2 suites in the building. While doing dental procedures, will be utilizing a rubber dam, which is a latex drape over your mouth with only the tooth or teeth receiving treatment being exposed during procedures, in order to minimize aerosolized moisture particulate matter. Due to shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE), we have purchased an ultraviolet light box which will kill all bacteria and viruses on our PPE. This UV light box will be used on all of our non-soiled PPE after each and every patient. Lastly, we will check all staff members, including the dentist's temperature and oxygen saturation levels daily. If any of our numbers stated earlier do not meet the acceptable criteria, the employee will be asked to go home. If the dentist numbers do not meet the requirements, the office will be cancelled and re-opened after a physician evaluation. If any employee does not feel well or is coughing/sneezing non related to allergies, they will be asked to go home and rest and return in 2 weeks. Please view the links below to see all that we have done and are in the process of doing to better serve you. It is of paramount importance to us, in order to keep all of our patients and staff safe during the pandemic. We will all get through this and be able to put it behind us hopefully soon. We wish you all the best of health!
